One of the offseason additions to the Dallas Stars’ roster has a rather interesting nickname. And now, he has the goalie mask to match.
Anton Khudobin, affectionately known as ‘Dobby,’ is set to bring a little magic in the crease this season.
Courtesy of the custom artwork of Sylvie Marsolais (@Sylabrush), Khudobin will rock headgear featuring ‘Dobby the House Elf’ of the well-known Harry Potter series.
In a surprising twist, Khudobin – who is set to serve as backup to Ben Bishop this season after signing a two-year, $5 million contract this offseason – has never actually seen any of the Harry Potter movies, or read any of the books.

“I haven’t watched Harry Potter,” Khudobin told reporters at Stars media day in Frisco on Thursday. “That has to be clear.”
Khudobin said the inspiration for the mask came about solely due to the fact he shares the nickname, a nickname given to him by Alexander Radulov when he was 17.
“I think it’s a great movie for kids,” said Khudobin. “To be honest, I’ve never had interest. I don’t know why.”
As long as the mask provides a magical boost in his ability to stop pucks, surely the Venn-diagram-crossover of Stars fans and Harry Potter fans will forgive him.
